I wouldn't wanna be Brian Cashman

George Steinbrenner, on the heels of the Yankees' 19-1 loss to the Indians, yesterday turned his attention to the job that Brian Cashman is doing.

The Boss, in a statement released by publicist Howard Rubenstein, said, "Brian Cashman is working hard to improve the team and the responsibility is totally in his hands."

Actually just found about the 4th of July beating this morning. Seems like the Yankees lose a game like this each year lately and everyone makes a huge deal of it. I think I would be more worried if they went on a long losing streak.

In all seriousness though, if the Yankees make the playoffs this year, it will be incredible. Injuries, shaky pitching, the Red Sox/Blue Jays/Tigers/White Sox records, it's all working against them this year. They would be twice as many games back in the East if not for Mike Mussina. He's been mighty good this year.

Well likewise the Sox have had their fair share of injuries to their staff and players.

How much better would they be with Arroyo there now instead of Willie Mo? (He's out hurt). David Wells...Matt Clement...Keith Foulke....even Timlin was out for a bit. Not to mention Pena, Crisp and I feel like I'm forgetting some.

Honestly I am scared to be relying on Mr. BloodySock, Mr. Blister, Mr Knuckle and then a closer who is a rookie...yikes

Right now, Youkillis about what I expected. Loretta about what I expected. Gonzales a lot less but he has played great defense and didn't allow his horrible offense to affect his defense. Lowell, better than I expected but I did expect him to rebound somewhat. Varitek, so far major disappointment. Big Papi, well he's clutch, thank goodness.

Manny is Manny. Coco not had the affect I hoped, droped in the order. Trot, less than I expected.

Truthfully, the trade market seems to favor Detroit and Chicago who both have more assets to give up than Sox or Yankees and teams like Seattle, Texas, Oakland all hanging around and could make trades, Minnesota has the most fearsome 1-2 punch anywhere right now, Cleveland could explode at any minute....

I really think neither Boston or the Yanks are the favorites, which is new, or at least a change to the normal.

how is this brian cashmans fault? he does what george tells him to, and he cant keep his allstars from getting hurt.

honestly with the 9 guys they put out there each game (if they were all healthy) tjeu sjpi;d wom 110 games a year.

Good points about the Sox, they have had their share of troubles also. I'm not making excuses for the Yanks, to be honest I really dislike the whole organization.

But do you think the Blue Jays can actually win that division? I expect either Boston or NY to miss the playoffs this year, but if they both did... that would be shocking.

it would also be very boring and the ratings would drop drastically. this past world series had one of the lowest watching percentages in recent history.

The World Series has been a letdown the past two years, because of the sweeps. I enjoyed last year's NLCS and the '04 ALCS was beyond bliss. Absolutely loved it.

But the WS hasn't gotten it done lately.
